Backups Save The Day…Again!

Another recent instance of a backup saving the day would be at a food distribution company we manage. We received a ticket stating that a user had accidentally altered a file, and saved it at the end of a work day. Due to their large Barracuda appliance, we were able to create a repeating file level backup of their shared folder.

Every 15 minutes, a backup runs and captures any changes made since the last backup. We were able to restore the file back to its time of change, instead of needing to go back to the night before's backup. This eliminated any headache of the user having to make any alterations that were done since the last nights backup. Creating specific and detailed scheduled backups, the threat of file loss for any reason is virtually eliminated.
